Dear MoveOn member,
We did it.
We’ve passed one of the most significant economic packages in American
history.
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) delivers $1.9 trillion in critical aid to
the most vulnerable communities who are still suffering the worst effects
of the COVID crisis.
It’s the second-largest spending bill ever passed, and once President
Biden signs it into law, many Americans’ lives will improve for the
better.
* Hundreds of millions of people will be receiving stimulus checks of up
to $1,400 per person, thanks to the ARP.
* Unemployment still remains at crisis levels. Expanded unemployment
benefits were set to expire next week, but the ARP extends them
through September.
* State and local governments need aid if we’re going to continue to
contain the spread of COVID-19 and reopen safely. The ARP allocates
hundreds of billions of dollars to state and local governments to fund
things like expanded vaccine distribution, plans for safely reopening
schools, public transit, and community development.
* COVID-19 has had an unimaginable toll on American children. The ARP
expands the Child Tax Credit to $3,000—and according to experts, more
than 93% of children (about 69 million in total) will benefit from
this expansion.^1 The ARP’s Child Tax Credit is projected to cut U.S.
child poverty rates in half.
The American Rescue Plan will have a positive impact on the lives of
nearly everyone in the U.S. [ [link removed] ]Can you take a minute or two to share which
part(s) of the ARP you feel will benefit you the most?
How will the american rescue plan help you?
These are just a few of the highlights of the ARP, a set of policies that
will move us toward real relief and help lift up millions in struggling
communities across the country.
Make no mistake: The collective efforts of activists like you made this
possible.
Over the past few weeks, MoveOn members regularly showed up in force to
make sure we ended up with a huge, bold relief bill.
* You made thousands of phone calls to your elected officials in the
House and Senate, demanding that they keep this package bold and
ambitious, even when it seemed that some of its most critical
components would get watered down.
* You took to social media to share what was at stake with this
legislation, and got #OurSurvivalAtStake to be the #3 trend on Twitter
last Wednesday.
* You funded an ad campaign to urge Senator Krysten Sinema to fight for
Arizonans (and all Americans) in need of support.
* You showed up outside the offices of senators, including Marco Rubio
and Rob Portman, to call them out for not supporting relief for their
constituents.
Thanks in part to your efforts, we’re bringing a robust, $1.9 trillion
package to the American people.

part(s) of the ARP you think will benefit you the most!
And we’re gearing up for what’s next. We know that one piece of
legislation alone, as robust as it is, won’t solve all of our problems.
That’s why MoveOn members will be mobilizing during
the upcoming congressional recess—to make sure that Congress and the Biden
administration continue to deliver bold policies that help lead us to a
real, robust recovery and inclusive democracy—and we can’t wait for you to
be a part of it.
Thanks for all you do.
