Friend,

I want to tell you a quick story about the time I quit my job.

After law school I worked as a litigator. About five years into my career, I took a job at a law firm in Washington, DC. In 2016, I was given a new client that immediately struck me to the core of my conscience: Donald Trump.

Trump was suing Chef José Andrés after he pulled out of a restaurant deal at one of Trump’s hotels. At the heart of the case was the disparaging and racist comments about Mexican Americans that Trump made on the campaign trail.

When I asked to be taken off the case, I was told that it was just a job and that I should just “be a professional” and remove my personal feelings from the case. I knew then and there that I had to make a decision about who I was and what I stood for.

So I quit. And I never regretted it.

What you should know about me is that I’m not the type of person to simply roll over and ignore the struggles of our communities. I’m always willing to take a risk to do the right thing. That’s the leadership I want to bring to the table as Lt. Governor of Virginia.

We are coming up on an important funraising deadline soon, and I hope you’ll consider supporting our campaign with a contribution to send a message that you value integrity in your public servants.

In solidarity,
Sean
