The Far Right is moving quickly to attack our elections and your right to vote. In 43 states across the country, legislators have introduced over 250 bills to impede your access to the ballot, and they’re not done yet.
Unless we act quickly to stop them, who knows what devastating impact these measures will have on upcoming elections – potentially jeopardizing an already slim majority in Congress.
It’s a favorite tactic from the far-right playbook: when they lose elections because their ideas fail to appeal to a majority of voters, they move to restrict our ability to vote in order to make it easier for the Right to win elections. They no longer care about trying to run a campaign on a winning platform as long as they can get their way by passing new laws that allow them to rig the system at every turn.
And because the Right’s attacks on voting have been gaining steam this year, it’s crucial that the Senate take up and pass the For the People Act right away.
Our democracy has needed reform for decades. With a Democratic majority in both chambers of Congress, we have a better chance than ever at passing this vital legislation.
But the moment we let up pressure – even for a second – it provides an opportunity for the Far Right to strike.
