Dear friend,
In December, the New York Times published blurbs on top mayoral candidates and chose to reduce Dianne’s candidacy to a racist trope after she had answered a forum question about cannabis use asked of all candidates by saying, “I prefer edibles.” It was the only time the Times had written anything about Dianne beyond naming her.
That’s why today, to spotlight the need for cannabis justice and looking ahead to Dianne’s plan for Green Jobs, Green Food and Green Justice, we’re launching a limited-edition “I prefer edibles” quote T-shirt as a gift for supporters who donate $50 or more to help us unlock the city’s 8:1 match by tonight’s 11:59 PM final deadline.
Here’s the deal: The collateral consequences of the failed War of Drugs and proven discriminatory practices like Stop and Frisk have contributed to one of the most egregious social divides in modern American history. While cannabis continues to be an economic driver of white wealthy entrepreneurs and corporations, Black and Brown New Yorkers are still subject to profiling, arrests and adjudication for possession of cannabis.
Dianne is committed to being the first Mayor of NYC to not only confront this disparity, but to ensure those most impacted by the legal system aren’t prevented from thriving within the industry, which is why cannabis justice will play an important role in her Green policies.
Tonight is critical: This is our last chance to help Dianne qualify for public matching funds so we can continue to fight for a city where every New Yorker lives in dignity. Donate $50 or more today and we’ll send you our limited-edition “I prefer edibles” quote tee as a gift. In solidarity,
Team Dianne If you believe you received this message in error or wish to no longer receive email from us, please unsubscribe. |
