Dear John,

By now, you have probably heard about H.R. 1, the terribly misnamed For the People Act, which is really a poorly disguised attack on free speech. The bill, which passed the U.S. House last week and is now headed to the U.S. Senate, is a brazen power grab, even by the Democrats' standards. They want to force every state to turn over their election authority--vested in them by the Constitution--to Congress. Not only would it federalize elections in America, but it would also significantly undermine our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and assembly.

This catastrophic bill must be stopped as it heads to a 50-50 Senate, where even a single vote can make all the difference. So what can we do? We must start with prayer--praying that our elected leaders would carefully consider the repercussions of their decisions and boldly stand for justice, truth, and liberty. And we must speak up so that we can continue to have a voice through free and fair elections.
