John, there was only one House Democrat who voted against workers on Tuesday: Henry Cuellar.
Every other House Democrat voted for the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, securing critical labor protections for workers all across the country. When Rep. Cuellar voted against the PRO Act, he voted against workers in his district, all across Texas, and throughout the entire country.
Conservative Democrats in Congress, influenced by corporate special interests, prove to us every single day why we need to elect better Democrats in districts across the country.
That’s what Justice Democrats does when it recruits strong progressive candidates and helps elect leaders like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman.
There was a reason we recruited and — along with major labor unions — supported Jessica Cisneros when she challenged Cuellar last year in the Democratic primary for the 28th District in Texas. Cuellar takes money from Koch-backed organizations and the Chamber of Commerce. He protected corporate profits instead of the working people of his district.
Cuellar even cited an aggressively anti-labor policy in explaining his No vote. He said so-called “Right-to-Work” laws need to be protected — when in reality, these are the very laws hurting workers and weakening unions in Texas and many other states. Conservative policies that benefit corporations are just not the way to move this country forward, especially not within the Democratic Party.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
