CBS News: “Biden throws support behind Amazon warehouse workers' vote in Alabama amid historic push to unionize”
Recently, President Joe Biden stood in (virtual) solidarity with workers at an Amazon warehouse in Alabama who are casting ballots to decide whether to organize a union.
I am proud of our president -- President Biden ran as the Dignity of Work candidate, and he’s making good on that promise. This is the clearest statement of support for the labor movement by a sitting president in my lifetime.
Like we do, President Biden knows that unions give workers more power in their workplaces. That’s why he supports legislation I introduced that would safeguard workers’ right to join a union and bargain for better wages, benefits, and safer workplaces, and level the playing field between corporations and workers in union organizing.
“I believe every worker deserves a free and fair choice to join a union -- and the PRO Act will bring us closer to that reality.”
- President Joe Biden
Will you join me and Joe Biden in taking a stand for workers and their right to join a union? Add your name today.
The pandemic has laid bare how our economy benefits the top 1% and corporations -- whose profits have soared during the health crisis -- while failing workers who are putting their health and well-being on the line but whose wages have stalled.
Amazon and employers everywhere wouldn’t be the successful companies they are without the workers who contribute their time, energy, and commitment. Workers should share in the wealth they help create.
Add your name to mine and join our grassroots movement to honor the Dignity of Work and protect workers’ right to join a union. >>
With gratitude,
Sherrod
