We’re covering all the basics you need to know:
-- Medication abortion has a proven 20-year track record for safety and effectiveness.
-- Despite this track record, medication abortion—specifically the medication mifepristone—has been unduly singled out, even during a pandemic. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) currently imposes medically unnecessary restrictions that require providers to jump through extra hoops, on top of many harmful state laws that require patients to visit clinics multiple times.
-- These restrictions are not based in science or medicine. They place inequitable burdens on Black, Indigenous, and other people of color—the same communities who are being disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
-- How do we fix this mess? The FDA under the Biden Administration CAN take action and should use its power to ensure these restrictions are reversed.
-- How you can help: sign this petition calling on the administration to lift restrictions or send a postcard urging them to take executive actions to support abortion justice.

We’ve seen time and time again that our lawmakers won’t take decisive action unless we keep the pressure on them. Your voice matters in the fight ahead to expand access to medication abortion care.
Thank you for support. Please stay tuned for our next policy blog.
Onward,
