friend, At UnKoch My Campus, we’ve seen the harmful impact that dark money donations have had when it comes to the courts, from disrupting government services, to placing the interests of corporations over that of the common good, and disenfranchising Black people, people of color, transgender people, women, queer people, families, workers, and the poor. It’s beyond time to demand that dark money no longer has a place when it comes to the judicial system. On March 10th, Lisa Graves, President of the Center for Media and Democracy and trusted advisor to UnKoch My Campus, provided testimony to the U.S. Senate Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Federal Courts on dark money influence on the courts. We join Lisa in calling out special interest groups like the Koch network, that have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into intricate campaigns to influence judicial nominations, judicial decisions, and judges with no oversight and very little transparency about where the money comes from. And we encourage you to sign on with us. Pledge to fight dark money influence in the courts and demand that our judicial system be a space where the common good becomes the priority over corporations. In solidarity, Jasmine Banks, Executive Director UnKoch My Campus |
