Dear John,

We need you to keep fighting. The Local Government Division of the State Government Finance and Elections Committee will hold the first hearing on a statewide Ranked Choice Voting bill on Wednesday, March 17 at 8:30am. The bill, HF 89 – sponsored by a broad and diverse coalition of Metropolitan and Greater Minnesota legislators – implements Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in primary and general elections for state and federal offices and allows local jurisdictions to adopt RCV if they wish.

To our surprise – given the fact that this bill has the most co-signers of any bill this session (39 and growing!) – the bill is only scheduled for an informational hearing, which would not allow the bill to pass out of committee and to the House floor for a vote. We DO have the votes to pass the bill out of committee, but we need your help to make sure that happens!

Contact members of the Local Government Division right away and let them know you want them to vote on this bill and pass it out of committee.

Then sign up for a briefing from the bill authors and the hearing to show the tremendous support for RCV:

1. Join our Bill Authors’ Briefing on Tuesday, March 16th from 11-11:30am.

2. Join the first hearing on HF 89 in the Local Government Division on March 17 at 8:30am.

We are fighting hard for our bill and for a stronger democracy, and we can’t thank you enough for everything you are doing to move this legislation forward!
