I'm relieved to share the good news with you directly:

Congress just passed the American Rescue Plan, a long overdue $1.9 trillion
stimulus that will bring relief to millions of Americans, businesses, and state
and local governments. Shortly, it will be signed into law by President Biden.

I made it clear, as did President Biden, that while we wanted to work with
Republicans, we would not allow them to obstruct the desperately needed relief
funds. The Biden administration, the House Democrats, and the Senate Democrats
-- with the support of the majority of Americans behind us -- have delivered on
our promise of help.

Here's what's in this bill:

- Direct stimulus payments for many Americans
- Supplemental unemployment benefits
- Child tax credits that would benefit more than 93% of American kids
- Subsidies for COVID-19 testing and vaccination
- Grants to state and local governments to offset COVID-19 costs and lost revenue
- Extended federal eviction moratorium
- Money for elementary and middle schools to reopen safely
- Support to expand broadband access that has been essential but lacking in many places
- And much, much more, including student loan, health care, and food stamp benefits

Thank you for your support as we've worked so hard to get this bill passed over
the past few months. We will continue to meet the needs of our fellow Americans
so we can emerge from this crisis stronger than before.
