Ahead of more EIPs, NAFCU reiterates need for garnishment protection [ [link removed] ]
Following Senate passage over the weekend, the House today is poised to pass the next round of coronavirus relief and send the legislation – the American Rescue Plan Act – to President Joe Biden. As the package includes another round of economic impact payments (EIPs), NAFCU again joined with several other financial institution and consumer groups calling on Congress to protect the EIPs from garnishment.

Ahead of a House Small Business Committee hearing to examine the Small Business Administration's (SBA) paycheck protection program (PPP), NAFCU's Brad Thaler outlined the ways credit unions have helped their communities through the program and offered recommendations to ensure maximum efficiency.


CFPB issues rule related to discrimination under ECOA, Reg B [ [link removed] ]
The CFPB Tuesday issued an interpretive rule clarifying that discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity is prohibited under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and Regulation B.






NAFCU Reg Committee discuss CFPB, PPP, fintech [ [link removed] ]
NAFCU's Regulatory Committee met Tuesday and discussed a number of proposed rulemakings currently open for comment from the CFPB and the pending nomination of Rohit Chopra for CFPB Director. NAFCU also provided an overview of recent developments related to the paycheck protection program (PPP), fintech, and climate risk.
