When we started this campaign, my team and I decided you wouldn’t hear too much from me about our fundraising. What we set out to do, instead, was create as many opportunities as possible for me to connect with supporters directly.

From time to time, those goals come together. I’m reaching out now because we need your help. We’ve made real gains in this race, and now, funding this campaign as robustly as possible is part of our strategy for getting in front of voters. So that’s the goal: secure the resources we need to share our vision for a fresh start with as many people as possible before voting starts.

I think Americans are hungry for a fresh start. That’s what they tell me when I meet them. I think they’re looking to be a part of something that’s about more than endless fighting in Washington or daily political ups and downs, something real and grounded in our everyday lives. That’s what we’re offering. We’re building a movement rooted in hope and ready to meet our challenges.

To do it, we need to hit goals that give us resources and momentum, and my team tells me we’re closing in on $1.5 million. The external expectations for what we’ll have raised when this quarter ends at midnight are high, but then so are the expectations we set for ourselves.

On the biggest issues of our time -- universal health care, gun safety, immigration reform, preventing climate catastrophe -- Americans agree we need to act. What we’re building is a campaign that brings out the best in us. In Phase Three, we’re taking it on the road and getting the word out on the ground, into the communities who will have the first say in determining our Democratic nominee.

Moments like tonight are about preparing. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to this campaign. I’ve never been more hopeful, and it’s a result of people from all walks of life coming together to win a new era. We can do it, together.
