Dear [Name],
The House just approved the American Rescue Plan, which means it's on its way to President Biden, and that COVID relief will be on its way to us soon. There are some big wins for families in this bill, including a funding increase for Home and Community Based Services (HCBS). And we have you to thank for that.
Over the past month, we’ve sent more than 2,700 messages to Congress, held 38 meetings with Members of Congress about increasing funding for HCBS, and hosted a town hall with Representatives Jamaal Bowman and Nikema Williams and Senator Elizabeth Warren about the need to invest in care.
Thanks to your work, a lot of what we wanted is included in this relief bill. It’s an incredible first step that sets us up for the next stage — making these temporary changes permanent.
As we prepare for that next step, will you help support Caring Across Generations’ work by making a donation today?
Now, caregiving families across the country are going to benefit from some of these major provisions in the American Rescue Plan:
- Increasing Federal Medicaid funding by 10 percent and increasing access to HCBS
- Provides relief checks up to $1,400 for many people
- Volutary tax credits for businesses that choose to provide paid leave
- An increase in the child tax credit to up to $3,600 per child and an additional $15 billion to help low-income families afford child care
We’ve needed additional pandemic relief for a really long time and it’s finally headed our way. We deserve to celebrate this win for us and our families, and to shout out everything we did to make it happen.
But we cannot afford to step back yet, there’s a lot more work to do to make these changes permanent and remake our care system for the future. Your consistent generosity allows us to ensure we continue to galvanize caregivers and supporters like yourself as we apply the collective pressure needed to get meaningful reforms passed for all our families. Will you help support our work by making a donation today?
Donate $5 or more to help rebuild our care system for the future.
With care,
Namatie Mansaray, Senior Policy and Government Affairs Manager
