Friend — I hope you've been following the fight over H.R.1 — this is huge news.
In recent weeks, Republican-led governments in 43 states have passed bills dramatically restricting voting access. The harm to our democracy is deep. It's urgent we move quickly.
There is hope — serious hope — to undo the damage. It all hinges on H.R. 1 — the For the People Act.
Earlier this week, the House passed the bill in a vote of 220 to 210.
If we can get this through the Senate, it means automatic voter registration, nationwide. Early and absentee voting. More resources for voting by mail. Gerrymandering reform. Fixing dark money in elections. It's a massive bill that would finally make our democracy easier to participate in for everyone, and particularly voters of color long targeted by voter suppression policies.
Earlier this week at CPAC, Trump appeared, railing against the bill.
"This monster must be stopped. It cannot be allowed to pass."
Bottom line, if H.R.1 becomes law, it limits Trump's chances of ever winning office again. We need your help to push this bill through. A group of donors have put up a match fund to triple every contribution right now.
We're asking for your help to get H.R.1 turned into law. Even $5 is enough to make a difference — every contribution is being triple matched right now.
We're ramping up a major pressure campaign right now. That means phones ringing off the hook on Capitol Hill. That means flooding offices with letters. We're calling on every allied senator to get this bill to a vote — if we win it's a game changer:
Automatic and same-day voter registration. Curbing the gerrymandering that stops communities from being intentionally underrepresented. Strengthening election security and government ethics to ensure a fair and transparent process. Revamping campaign finance laws to limit the influence of Big Polluters and other corporate lobbyists in our elections.
We have a shot here, but — cards on the table, it's not the only knock-down-drag-out-fight we're in the middle of right now.
We're in a major push to get the Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act passed. The package could permanently protect millions and millions of acres of public land and rivers around the country. That includes more than
1 million acres of federal land around the Grand Canyon, currently at risk of being ravaged by uranium mining.
The Havasupai Tribe has fought for this tooth and nail — these mining efforts are a grave threat to its primary water source.
Friend — we have to get both these bills passed. These are critically important environmental votes — but it all comes down to the environmental movement.
So we're asking — will you pitch in today? A group of donors will triple match every contribution.
Triple your impact — even $5 is enough to make a difference »
Thank you — sincerely, friend. The only way we have any shot at winning the fights that matter is with your help.
Onward,
