Chuck Schumer

Friend --

Why does every seat matter in the U.S. Senate?

The American Rescue Plan is why.

Before we dive into the details, just know this: It passed because Democrats were united. Not one Republican supported it, despite the fact that it is -- without a doubt -- the most significant piece of legislation we’ve passed in modern history to support working families.

This is why every Senate seat matters, and it’s why we have to protect our Senate majority in 2022 and expand it: We’ve set an aggressive mid-month goal of $30,000 by Friday to build the foundation to win in 2022, and win big. Will you chip in $1 or more right now?

So what does the American Rescue Plan do? In short:

  • It cuts childhood poverty in half.
  • Provides housing assistance to 12 million Americans struggling to pay rent.
  • Sends direct payments of $1,400 to working class Americans.
  • Extends unemployment benefits.
  • Provides funds to safely reopen schools.
  • Aids in vaccine distribution and production.
  • Provides relief for restaurants and small businesses.

And so, so much more. All this, and still not one Republican voted to support it. That’s why we need to protect our majority in the Senate, and it’s why we have to fight for every single seat to expand it.

Friday’s deadline is all about defending our majority so we can keep making progress. Chip in $1 or more to reach $30,000 in grassroots donations by Friday at midnight to support Senate Democrats in 2022.

Thanks,

Team Schumer
