Trade for Her: Empowering women through international trade
The conference will look into the results of the first ever study on barriers for women in the EU, who are engaged in international trade. President Jean-Claude Juncker in Strasbourg
Jean-Claude Juncker will be in Strasbourg, France to participate in an exchange with the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and to deliver a speech at a high-level event on the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.

Karmenu Vella will be in Luxembourg to meet with Neno Dimov, Minister for the Environment of Bulgaria and with Isabella Lövin, Minister for Environment and Climate, and Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden.

Human Rights Communicators Workshop
Leading human rights communicators will gather at FRA from 3 to 4 October to discuss and seek solutions for the challenges and opportunities arising from the pace of change in the world around us. Participants will focus on how best to effectively communicate about human rights while engaging the ‘conflicted’ middle and new audiences.

The conference programme will focus on scientific and practical knowledge on the transition towards more sustainable circular economy. The sessions will cover topics such as systemic change, trade-offs and synergies, low-carbon circular economy in cities, different aspects of competitive, sustainable and resilient manufacturing and the role of digitalization in the circular economy.

PACE Plenary Session in Strasbourg
During the session, the Assembly will focus on the protection of whistleblowers, common standards for ombudsman institutions, and the protection of victims of terrorism, as well as the preservation of Jewish cultural heritage. The Assembly will also discuss reports on climate refugees and labour migration in Eastern Europe, and on obstetrical and gynaecological violence.

Portugal - Legislative Elections - October 6

On Sunday, Portuguese voters will head to the polls to elect their government for the next four years. At stake are the 230 seats in the country’s Assembly. Since 2015, a coalition of the Socialists, the Left Bloc, and the Communists has ensured a parliamentary majority in government.
