This is huge, friend — in a vote of 227-200, the House has just officially passed a package of eight major public lands bills.

What happens next is up to us — the package is poised for a vote in the Senate. With the chamber split 50-50, any vote we get through is going to have razor-thin margins. This could move quickly. We're asking for your help to help get these bills passed. Help fund our campaign — every contribution is being triple matched right now so even $5 makes a big difference.

The package — called the Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act — could permanently protect millions and millions of acres of public land and rivers around the country.

Included in the package is a bill that would protect more than 1 million acres of federal land around the Grand Canyon. This is an urgent fix. During the Obama administration, the Interior Department banned new uranium mining claims, but the policy was temporary and constantly under threat from the Trump administration.

This bill would permanently block efforts to expand uranium mining. The Havasupai Tribe has fought for this tooth and nail — these mining efforts are a grave threat to its primary water source.

Friend — this is a moment for the environmental movement to show up in a major way. We need to get this through the Senate. That means flooding Senate offices with calls and letters. It means campaigning like hell between now and the vote.

That's only going to happen with your help. We've set a goal of raising $50,000 — and a group of donors has agreed to triple match every contribution before midnight on Sunday.

Will you pitch in today? Triple your impact — even $5 is enough to make a difference »

These are some of the most important environmental bills to hit the floor this session. It's not just about protecting the Grand Canyon — it protects 1.49 million acres of land as wilderness and more than 1,000 miles of wild rivers.

This isn't going to be easy — we're already up against massive opposition from oil-backed lawmakers. This bill is following up on an executive order from President Biden pausing all oil and gas leasing on public lands to allow for a top-to-bottom review of the rigged leasing system.

The oil and gas industry is already ramping up massive PR efforts, launching lawsuits, and aggressively lobbying Congress.

But this is a shot — a real shot — at protecting vast swaths of public land. We have to give it everything we have. That's only going to happen with your help, friend.

Please, pitch in before Sunday's deadline. Triple your impact today — even $5 can make a difference »

I know you won't sit this one out. Thanks for all you do today and every day.

Onward,
