On Thursday, February 25, the US House of Representatives passed the Equality Act, a proposal that adds sexual orientation and gender identity to the federal civil rights law. This bill threatens women and children, religious freedom, medical providers, employers and employees and more. It is not about equality. It’s about a dangerous political agenda pushed by liberals seeking to fundamentally change America. In the Senate, Wisconsin’s Tammy Baldwin, who is openly gay and leads the LGBT+ caucus, is a co-author of the proposal.

NOTE: All Democrats voted for the bill and all but three Republicans voted against it. Wisconsin’s congressional delegation split along party lines, with Democrats Gwen Moore, Mark Pocan and Ron Kind voting for and Republicans Bryan Steil, Scott Fitzgerald, Glenn Grothman, Mike Gallagher, and Tom Tiffany voting against the bill.

We saw an overwhelming outpouring of action across the nation that exemplifies the opposition across the United States regarding this very dangerous bill.

 
We knew the House with its Democratic majority and leadership would pass the bill.  Now we move to the Senate where it will take 60 votes to pass—and the Democrats have only 50. We need to make sure that Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson (R) doesn’t help the Democrats get to that magic number of 60. 

 We will be keeping you informed about the bill as it moves to the Senate. However, WE ARE GOING TO STAY ON TOP OF THIS ISSUE by asking you to take action again soon!
