John,
Yesterday, Mike Garcia, our district's representative -- the elected voice in Congress for nearly three-quarters of a million people -- voted against the Equality Act and against protecting the rights of LGBTQ Americans.
A representative of, by, and for the people, including LGBTQ people, decided that making discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or identity illegal is a bridge too far -- that protecting LGBTQ Americans could only possibly come "at the expense of or as a detriment to other free citizens," as Garcia wrote in a Tweet at the time of the House's vote.
That is absurd. This is thinly veiled homophobia and transphobia and represents the continued discrimination of certain people in our country.
John, you deserve better. Our LGBTQ friends, family, and neighbors deserve better. Our district deserves better.
If you agree, please chip in $5 or anything you can to our #FlipThe25th fund right now so we can elect a leader who will serve all of us, regardless of who we are or who we love.

Expanding civil rights to our LGBTQ friends and family just makes sense. No one deserves to be discriminated against because of who they love or how they identify.
That only three members of the GOP voted in favor of this bill shows the deep-seated hate in the elected members of the Republican party. It shows how out-of-touch and hyper-partisan these leaders are: Polling shows that most Americans believe LGBTQ folks deserve basic protections against discrimination in workplaces and homes, but you wouldn't think that by counting the votes in Congress.
Mike Garcia's "no" vote on this act is disappointing to say the least -- and it shows the desperate need for new representation in our district.
We need leaders who will protect the rights of all our constituents, not vote to deny them basic protections. If you're in agreement with me on this, chip in $5 or anything you can to get Mike Garcia out of office and elect a new leader for us all.
