John,

We’re back with our next installment of 21 to Watch in ‘21 – a biweekly
series where we spotlight and introduce you to some of the people and
issues to keep your eye on in the progressive movement this year.

Our second spotlight features Tishaura Jones, current St. Louis, MO city
Treasurer and candidate for Mayor of St. Louis.

Tishaura is no stranger to the DFA family. We’ve supported her in
[ [link removed] ]previous races and endorsed her current campaign [ [link removed] ]the day it was
announced!

With her primary election less than a week away, we’re going all in to
make sure Tishaura gets the support she needs from our DFA family. As city
Treasurer, Tishaura put her money where her mouth is by enacting a $15/hr
minimum wage in the Treasurer’s office, and launching the nation’s
second-largest children’s savings program, College Kids, which presently
has over 16,300 children enrolled with more than $1.2 million saved for
their futures.

You are the power behind progressive change in this country by helping to
elect candidates in races up and down the ballot, in every corner of
America, every single year. That is why there is no such thing as an
off-year for DFA. We don’t take a break after the presidential election
and we don’t exhale after the midterms.

We fight for progressive change all the time.

Tishaura’s race is our first election of 2021 and we want to keep our
winning momentum going!

Our full interview with Tishaura is available online [ [link removed] ]HERE. Click the
links below to hear a few excerpts.

If you are as excited about electing the best progressive candidate in the
race to lead St. Louis as Mayor, please consider making a contribution to
help Tishaura get through the primary election next week, and bring her
one step closer to becoming the first Black woman Mayor of St. Louis.

[ [link removed] ]On St. Louis’ covid response:

"Just like every other city, St. Louis has seen [racial] disparities just
laid bare – the first 12 deaths that we had from COVID in 2020, were all
African Americans. [African Americans] still contract and die from COVID
at alarming rates compared to other races. Our response has been
disjointed. . . vaccine distribution has been slow and it's been
confusing. They promise a vaccine delivery, and then they pull it back.
It's been just crazy."

[ [link removed] ]On receiving DFA’s endorsement:

"When we announced on November 4th, we were able to come out of the gate
with DFA’s endorsement and it's been tremendous. It's also brought a lot
of other people to the table, because DFA was first and was early."

[ [link removed] ]On turning a campaign platform into reality:

“I'm the only candidate in this race that has the executive experience of
turning a vision or a platform into a reality. . . They need a champion
and a fighter in St. Louis. And I will be that Mayor.”

DFA was the first progressive organization to endorse Tishaura, and we’re
fighting alongside her all the way to the finish line. [ [link removed] ]Can you rush
Tishaura a contribution to help her get through the primary on Tuesday?

Thank you for checking out our second highlight of 21 to Watch in ‘21.

You heard it here first!

Being first is how we roll. Always have. Always will.
