Because of COVID, census data delivery is being delayed, which could delay redistricting until after the 2022 elections. If we can flip the General Assembly blue, then Democrats have the chance to stop the gerrymandering that has kept Republicans in power for decades.

Friend —

The COVID19 pandemic has brought us all hardship, but out of that hardship a unique opportunity has presented itself to Georgia Democrats.

Let us explain: Because of the challenges presented by the pandemic, the U.S. Census Bureau is signaling to state legislatures that delivery of the data needed for redistricting will be delayed, possibly until September. Long story short, the redistricting process is a yearlong, tedious process — it is highly probable that state legislatures will be forced to wait until after the 2022 elections to complete the process.

Friend, this means that if Democrats can flip the General Assembly blue, we will control the redistricting process. We can prevent years of gerrymandering, which has consistently and historically created inequity for Black and brown peoples across Georgia. It would also put us in a better position for the 2024 elections and beyond.

There are plenty of Democrats willing to run for office in rural counties, where for years gerrymandering has prevented the majority black populations that live there from getting the equity they need and prevented them from exercising their right to vote fairly. Georgia Blue Project has the proven strategy to help them, but we need you to chip in a recurring donation or a one-time donation of $20 today. Can you make a contribution to support our efforts?

We have another chance to reshape the course of Georgia's sordid political history in 2022, but we ALL have to be ready when our moment comes. Thank you for your support and dedication to an equitable, blue Georgia.
