Dear John,
Here at PRH, it’s been one of our favorite weeks of the year! Our staff and expert faculty were with our 20 Fellows—the Leadership Training Academy Class of 2021—for their second virtual advocacy training.
We’re grateful for these bold physician advocates and our committed supporters like you who recognize the urgent work needed to advance reproductive health care in our country.
This week, Fellows focused on building strategies for driving real change within our communities and institutions, while also developing their unique approach to leadership.
Our advocates and staff in action!
They heard from Academy alumni who have played essential roles in advocating for reproductive health care at all levels: in the media, with fellow scientists and researchers, within their professional associations, and even at the Supreme Court.
Surrounded by colleagues and mentors, they discussed the personal and professional ramifications of “coming out” as an abortion provider or advocate for abortion care, and the intersection between religion, spirituality, and abortion care.
They also learned tools to support the lived experiences of their patients from our partners at WeTestify, and developed strategies for addressing health disparities and racism in medicine.
Altogether, this training is vital to helping physicians go beyond their exam rooms to advance health care that’s patient-centered, evidence-driven, and available to all people.
Thank you for being an ally to our advocates. I’ll be sharing more updates with you about the work they’re doing across the country in the weeks and months to come.
In solidarity and partnership,
Taylor Rose Ellsworth
