Dear John,

Because you are an American Rivers supporter we know you can’t get enough of rivers. We also know that there’s only so much time in a day -- even a pandemic-sized day -- and that sometimes you are ready to put the screen down. To keep the learning alive while you’re out on the river (or the trail, or the couch) American Rivers launched our podcast series, “We are Rivers: Conversations about the Rivers that Connect Us.”

“We Are Rivers” delves into stories about the rivers we love and the important relationships we have with them. In upcoming episodes, we will talk with researchers, adventurers, writers, water experts, and artists about their connection to rivers, and how they impact their lives. We’ll learn about the important relationships between wildlife and rivers, and examine the complex connections between wildfires and floods. We’ll meet American River’s new CEO Tom Kiernan, and hear some examples of river stewardship and protection. And that’s just scratching the surface.

In our most recent episode -- which is live now! -- we explored the connection between water and environmental justice and discuss examples of the challenges communities face, and the ways that they're engaging in solutions-oriented processes to map a path forward.

“We Are Rivers” is hosted by us, Fay Hartman and Page Buono. You can learn more about us -- including some of our best, worst and weirdest river stories -- and what to expect on the podcast this year in our 2021 Preview episode

New episodes of "We are Rivers" come out on the first Thursday of every month. Some months, we’ll share bonus episodes.

It’s exciting to share our passion for rivers with each of you, and we welcome your feedback and suggestions for future podcast episodes.

For our rivers,

Fay and Page
