On Sunday, Trump will give his first speech since leaving the White House, at the Conservative Political Action Conference -- and sources tell AXIOS he's planning to use the event to mark his return to power as the leader of the Republican Party.

The website reports he will declare himself the GOP's "presumptive 2024 nominee" and demonstrate that he still controls the party. Senior adviser Jason Miller says this will make it official: "Trump effectively is the Republican Party."

We're on high alert, and here is why -- we hoped to limit Trump's damage to his four years in office, but if he's allowed to regain his platform and his millions of devoted supporters, there's no telling what chaos he could wreak.
