We are teaming up with our friends at Food and Water Watch Midwest to canvass for the Green New Deal and a ban on fracking.  

Representative Mike Quigley has been a vocal supporter and co-sponsor of the Green New Deal resolution, but he has stopped short of calling for a ban on fracking, and did not support the more ambitious Off Fossil Fuels Act, which mandates a transition to 100% renewable energy by 2035.

We need to show Representative Quigley that his constituents support a Real Green New Deal that bans fracking and moves our country to 100% renewable energy. That’s why we’re organizing in his district and talking to thousands of people this summer!

What: Canvass for a Real Green New Deal

When: Saturday, July 20th at 10am

Where: Meet at Two-Hearted Queen (1201 W Roscoe St, Chicago, IL 60657) - off the Red Line Addison stop & Brown Line Southport stop

We’ll be knocking on doors and talking to voters in the 5th district, asking them to sign a petition to Representative Quigley. We’ll do a brief training beforehand, and will provide everything you need to be successful.

We are committed to fighting for a sustainable, healthy, just future where fossil fuel extraction is no longer polluting our air, water, communities, and planet. That’s why, despite our excitement for the scale and momentum of the Green New Deal, we were concerned to see that the most recent resolution did not address the need to ban fracking and stop fossil fuel infrastructure.

We’re campaigning for a Real Green New Deal that not only moves us to 100% renewable energy, but also bans fracking and keeps fossil fuels in the ground!

This is a big campaign, but it’s one that we must win. We can take on the fossil fuel industry by bringing people together, and that starts with building local political power. That’s where you come in!
