Biden's nomination of Deb Haaland for Secretary of the Interior is not just history in the making -- it indicates that there's a brighter and greener future ahead for us all.
Unfortunately, the GOP doesn't see it that way -- and they're launching a fear-mongering propaganda war against her in retaliation. The Federalist even went so far as to call her a “Trojan horse of radicalism.”
Haaland's “radical” viewpoints? Ending fracking on public lands, looking to divest from fossil fuels, and putting our efforts into renewable energy.
We tend to think that the term “radical” would be more aptly applied to the GOP representatives who incited white supremacist-fueled violence and endorsed the assassination of Nancy Pelosi, but that may just be us.
Haaland represents everything Republicans fear most -- she's an independent woman who is unapologetically fighting against climate change, and she isn't willing to compromise our country's environment in the pursuit of a quick profit.
Republicans have already announced they're planning to make life hard for her upon confirmation and are dedicated to blocking greener progress at every turn. Our country can't afford for them to be successful in sabotaging her environmental initiatives -- we're already seeing the repercussions of climate change start to decimate our grossly unprepared nation.
