Hi John,

Right now teams of people across the UK are taking action against UK
banks. I’m writing to you because whether you’ve got one minute, five
minutes or ten minutes to spare - you can join in!

The Bank of England and the UK Treasury are helping funnel billions of
pounds into destructive fossil fuel projects.

After almost 65,000 of us called on them to stop fuelling the climate
crisis, they're feeling the heat [ [link removed]- ]. That's why we're taking action
together today, along with activists in Argentina and the Pacific, to
raise the pressure even more. If all of us join in, we can expose the role
the Bank of England plays in the climate crisis.

[1]ACT NOW: Take one of these quick online actions against the Bank of
England and increase the pressure on them to end fossil finance!

With the UN Climate talks taking place in Glasgow this year, Boris Johnson
continues to position the UK as a climate leader. But with climate
breakdown worsening and our economy crashing, somehow commercial banks are
still getting away with funnelling billions into polluting industries, and
funding projects that trample indigenous rights and threaten livelihoods
around the globe.

At the same time, our care systems in the UK remain under-funded and a
mass unemployment crisis looms. In the wake of Covid-19, the UK’s public
money should be spent on rebuilding an economy that works for people, not
polluters. That means funding a Green New Deal: a bold and ambitious
programme of investment that tackles inequality and also guarantees a
clean environment as a basic human right.

Now has to be the time for Rishi Sunak and Bank of England Governor,
Andrew Bailey, to meet our demands. If enough of us take action, they
won’t be able to ignore us.

[ [link removed]- ]Take action now and add pressure on the Bank of England and The
Treasury to end fossil finance! Regardless of whether you have one or ten
minutes to spare, there will be an easy online action for you to take.

In solidarity,

Anna and the 350.org team

P.S: Follow the action throughout the day with the [ [link removed]- ]#EndFossilFinance
