In an attempt to protect mushers and local residents from contracting the novel coronavirus, the 2021 Iditarod has been rerouted. But this does nothing to protect the dogs, who cannot socially distance—and 81% of dogs who finish the race end up with lung damage under normal conditions.

Please join PETA in calling on the Iditarod to leave dogs out of the race and to urge the remaining sponsors to ditch the Iditarod permanently.
