CANDACE ROJAS ENDORSED BY SIERRA CLUB
SHINES IN CANDIDATE DEBATE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA
It's been a big week for Candace Rojas, candidate for Palm Beach Town Council Member in the March 9, 2021 Town Election. Ms. Rojas has just been endorsed by Sierra Club and shined in her performance at a recent virtual candidate debate hosted by the Palm Beach Civic Associations and the Citizens' Civic Association of Palm Beach.
David Harbeitner, Political Chair of Sierra Club, Florida Chapter, stated that its endorsement "means a lot" to its members and supporters and "sends a message of Candace's strong support for the environment and her proven track record in environmental issues." The endorsement comes one day after the debate, in which Rojas fielded questions regarding environmental issues affecting Palm Beach such as beach erosion, access, and renourishment as well as drinking water.
Said Rojas, "I am thrilled that Sierra Club, which was founded in 1892 and has been protecting our environment ever since, endorsed me. In my interview, I discussed my initiatives as a clean water advocate in Palm Beach County. I hope to bring my experience to bear at the Palm Beach Town Council, should I be fortunate to be elected. I am honored."
Candace's positive attitude, conversational style and knowledge of the issues shone through during the debate. The debate topics included a wide range of issues, from lack of parking to President Donald Trump's residency at Mar-a-Lago, which Candace defended vigorously. Ms. Rojas' responses included an emphasis on budget control, government responsiveness and accessibility and protection of private property rights while preserving the Palm Beach's iconic beauty.

TAKE A COFFEE BREAK WITH BRIAN STENBERG
Join Brian Stenberg for a cup of coffee and discussion about Boca Raton.
Each Friday, Brian will be meeting with residents at local eateries around town for a discussion on the issues that matter most to you, your family, and our community.
Brian's next "Coffee Break" will be at the Sequella Cafe, located at 410 Via De Palmas, this Friday, February 19th at 10:30 am. Your input is important - be a part of the conversation.
As a longtime Boca Raton resident and community advocate, I believe real change happens at the local level with residents joining together to take action.
Here is one example:
When I noticed street lights out throughout our Downtown, I saw it as a safety and security issue. I did what anyone would do: I contacted my local elected official to let them know. That official happened to be Monica Mayotte.
After emailing about the nonfunctioning lights, I was shocked by the response. Ms. Mayotte decided it was my job to do the leg work and requested that I find and report each Downtown broken light's location. Maybe she thinks this type of work is beneath her as a Councilwoman.
I don't, and I think this is exactly what our leaders should be doing: fixing problems.
I went out the next evening, dropped off my son at the skate park, and set to the task of doing the work that she wouldn't do. In fact, I identified over a dozen problem spots - only a small sample of City-maintained street lights that were not working Downtown. A few days after my reporting, we began to see City crews fixing the lights.
City Hall needs an active community advocate who works on the issues that matter to residents. We don't need a passive Council Member wasting time and tax dollars on the wrong priorities. Boca Raton deserves better.
That's why I'm running for Boca Raton City Council, Seat D.
Vote Brian Stenberg on March 9th, and let's bring common sense back to Boca.
Your neighbor,
Brian Stenberg Candidate for Boca Raton City Council, Seat D
