Dear friend,
Yesterday, as I testified before Congress, President Biden announced that he will nominate three new members of the USPS Board of Governors.
This is very good news and an important step to securing and expanding the Postal Service as a source of good jobs and crucial universal services to our community.
This could not have happened without the work of thousands of APWU members and our supporters across the country.
Earlier this week, we presented more than 400,000 signed petitions to the White House, urging them to move swiftly to nominate individuals who are committed to universal service and who will defend the vibrancy and sustainability of the public Postal Service.
Always remember - your organizing work helped make this happen!
We should all rightly be proud. By organizing together in our union and in our wider communities, we have secured $10 billion in COVID-19 relief for the Postal Service and a much stronger voice for working people at the top of the U.S. Postal Service.
Our organizing is getting results. And whether it’s ensuring management resolves the chaos in the mail, whether we stop any attempt to further roll back service standards, whether we win our priorities on Capitol Hill and at the bargaining table, we’ll need more of it.
The time for us to take action again is fast approaching. We are strong and we must be advocates for good jobs at our public Postal Service.
Be sure to sign up for text messages from APWU, so that when the time for action comes, you’ll be ready!
Your work is making a difference! Keep it up! Together, we will win!
In Union Solidarity,
Mark Dimondstein
