Hey there,
In a few moments, we're going to ask you to donate toward our February end-of-month fundraising goal. But before we do, we wanted to explain why we're doing things a little differently this month.
Here's the goal: 2,500 individual contributions by 11:59 p.m. P.T. on February 28 — coming up on Sunday night!
The reason: This month has shown us that the movement for progress isn't always easy. Despite broad support for a $15 minimum wage and survival checks that Pramila is tirelessly fighting for in the COVID relief bill, some members of Congress are pushing for "a compromise" that would take checks away from 40 million people and lower the minimum wage to $10 or $11. Seriously? Survival checks that put money in people's pockets and $15 IS the compromise — and we must keep working together to secure it.
Why 2,500 individual contributions instead of a dollar amount: Pramila doesn't take a dime of corporate PAC money because she believes in the power of the grassroots to enact bold and transformative change. By focusing on the number of donations that come in the door this month, we're showing everyone how much momentum there is behind our progressive priorities.
There's power in numbers. When you (and 2,499 other people from all across the country) chip in, you're sending an unmistakable message about our people-first movement's ability to win — on a $15 minimum wage, on survival checks, on voting rights, on climate justice, and on so much more.
Thank you for being a part of this,
Team Jayapal
