Canada welcomes election of next Secretary General of International Civil Aviation Organization

The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Omar Alghabra, Minister of Transport, today congratulated Juan Carlos Salazar, who has been elected as the next Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

As host state of ICAO, Canada offers Mr. Salazar its full support when he takes the helm of the agency on August 1, 2021.Canada is committed to the success of ICAO, which is essential in meeting the complex and evolving challenges facing the world of civil aviation, and is actively engaged in reinforcing the vital role that international organizations play as spaces for interaction and dialogue.
