We cannot finish Black History Month without celebrating a huge victory for Georgia voters from last month.
This is historic: Georgia, for the first time in our history, finally has a Black senator representing us in Washington.
Late last year we saw a record number of Black candidates running for all levels of public office, and
my friend Senator Raphael Warnock was one of the many to win.
None of this would be possible without decades of organizers fighting for access to the ballot box. Voting rights groups and prominent Democratic voices like Stacey Abrams chipped away at oppressive election systems in Georgia -- and made it possible to flip our state from red to blue.
Our government is starting to look like the people, and we are stronger for it. We are stronger when we have leaders who can truly speak for us.
It’s up to us to make sure that we continue to prioritize diversity in our elected officials -- and it’s up to us to make sure that Sen. Warnock holds onto his seat in 2022.
In celebration of Black History Month, I’m asking you to split a donation of any size between Our American Dreams and Raphael Warnock. We need Sen. Warnock serving our state in Washington, and he’ll face concerted efforts from Republicans in Georgia and across the country trying to unseat him.

That’s why I founded Our American Dreams, folks -- to lift up women, especially women of color, and help elect them to state and local office. We’re building a bench of Democratic leadership so that Sen. Warnock is just
the first Black senator elected from Georgia -- but he won’t be the last.
Meanwhile, we need to do all we can to support Sen. Warnock’s re-election campaign. He’s been elected to fill the remainder of Sen. Isakson’s term -- which means that while most incumbent senators have years to build up campaign infrastructure before running for re-election, Sen. Warnock
has to start now.
