This weekend, Nancy Pelosi talked about her “only endorsing incumbents in contested races.” For months, the DCCC and Democratic establishment at large has been doubling down on their choice to stand up for the Henry Cuellars, Dan Lipinskis, and Eliot Engels of the party — over the AOCs, Ayanna Pressleys, and Jamaal Bowmans of the party.

This is the formula that doomed us in 2016, and if we don’t act now, it will doom us again in 2020. We don’t need leaders who refuse to take bold, progressive action until they’re forced to stand up for what’s right. We want people who will lead affirmatively, who will stand up even when it’s hard, and who will fight for the social, racial, economic, and environmental justice that we all deserve.
