Hi friend,
The first victim was a 68-year-old Asian woman, who was punched in the back of the head on a subway platform in the morning, according to PIX 11. Later that same day, a 71-year-old Asian woman was struck in the face and body while riding the train.
Fueled by the GOP's anti-Asian rhetoric, these two brutal attacks are just a glimpse into the hate crimes the Asian American community is facing.
In addition to the two seniors, several other Asian American women were recently harassed and attacked in New York City. Asian American seniors were physically assaulted in multiple incidents across the Bay Area. And Asian American families are worried their children will face racist violence if they return to in-person learning.
Our Democratic majority in Washington has already started to address this growing crisis. Within his first days in office, President Joe Biden signed a memorandum to combat these hateful incidents toward Asian Americans.
But it's going to take more than just a few days to combat the surging hate crimes across the country. If we're going to stem the rising tide of xenophobia, we need all hands on deck.
We're up against the GOP's powerful coalition of racist, xenophobic donors -- and right now, we're $2,564 short of having the funds to fight back.
