Hi John,
Join us TONIGHT for a screening of the short film “Reopening” — an intimate look at one school’s reopening process amidst COVID-19 — from 4 to 6 PM. Following the screening, we will have a panel discussion with a number of parents, students, educators, and community leaders from the district. Register for the film screening and panel discussion.
Over the past year, New York State's public schools have been rocked by two pandemics: COVID-19 and systemic racism. For years, New York State has refused to fully fund our public schools, leaving many schools — especially those in predominantly Black and Brown communities — less able to adequately respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Community School 55 in the Bronx is in one of the poorest zip codes in the entire country. Despite this school's limited resources, it was able to reopen through the work of deeply committed staff and community at the school.
Join us tonight to hear from impacted students, parents, staff from CS 55 and our Bronx fam and what we can do to ensure all the schools have the resources they need. Click here to register now!
In solidarity,
Maria Bautista
