Dear John,
This month marks three years since Allied Against Opioid Abuse (AAOA) was launched to help prevent the abuse and misuse of prescription opioids through education and awareness.
Since 2018, we have reached people across the country through collaborative efforts and the continued dedication of our 20 national partners in the public health, prevention and healthcare communities. Our hard work has culminated in a collection of educational resources for patients, their caregivers and families, as well as the provider community.
Most recently, we partnered with the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) to release a suite of resources available in both Spanish and English focused on the safe use of prescription opioids in the Hispanic community. We also developed an informational Spanish-language video providing key insights on safe prescription opioid use from NHMA physicians.
Other partner collaborations over the past three years include:
With Americans encouraged to stay “safer at home” during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been even more important to ensure that prescription opioids are either securely stored — or safely disposed of — to prevent misuse and abuse. We encourage you to browse our tools for patients, caregivers, pharmacists and providers available on the AAOA website — and share them with your networks. Together, we can help educate individuals about the rights, risks and responsibilities associated with prescription opioids.
Thank you for your ongoing support these past three years.
Sincerely,
Allied Against Opioid Abuse
