A Big Oil CFO referred to the deadly power outages and subsequent price gouging that devastated millions of Texan families as a “jackpot” for profits -- and rather than hold energy companies accountable for exploiting Texans when they needed help most, Republican representatives have resorted to attacking the Green New Deal.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene baselessly blames wind turbines for the Texas disaster, while claiming that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's “job killing, economy destroying Green New Deal will end US oil, natural gas, and coal industries.”
But Rep. Ocasio-Cortez always tells it like it is: “The reason Republicans are scrambling to blame the Green New Deal is because it's the biggest legislative threat against the corrupt powers responsible for (& benefiting from) the suffering unfolding now.”
John, you know it's past time our government takes expansive climate action. The climate crisis is here, and if we fail to act, the most privileged among us -- those like Ted Cruz who can afford to hop on a plane to Mexico while others freeze to death -- will make do while millions suffer.
That's why, as Rep. Ocasio-Cortez continues the fight for immediate climate action, we need to know if the American people will stand behind her. Marjorie Taylor Greene may claim AOC is “the biggest fake climate crisis profiteer,” but what matters most to us is what everyday Americans think -- people like you who are directly impacted by policies coming from Washington.
