Low-wage workers are the backbone of our economy. They’ve been forced to work throughout this pandemic, risking their health and the health of their loved ones, all the while earning poverty wages.
With the current $7.25/hour federal minimum wage, the gross imbalance between the productivity of these workers—so many delivering essential services that all of us depend on—and the wages they’re actually paid has never been clearer.
American workers deserve to make a living wage. No one should work 40 hours a week and still have to choose between making rent and buying groceries for their families. Congress will only act if we do.

A new study shows raising the federal minimum wage to $15/hour would increase pay for nearly 32 million workers across the country—providing an additional $107 billion in wages for the country’s lowest-paid workers, with the average affected worker receiving an extra $3,300 a year.1
The time is now for Congress to increase the federal minimum wage to $15/hour. At a time when 95% of all U.S. economic gains are going to the top 1%, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour is the right and decent thing to do.
