Earlier this week, we were excited to publish Alabama Arise’s new multipart report, The State of Working Alabama 2021. The report describes the COVID-19 recession’s toll on working Alabamians and shows how the pandemic has deepened racial and gender disparities across our state. It also offers numerous policy recommendations, including Medicaid expansion and guaranteed paid sick leave, to chart a path toward a more just and inclusive economy that works for every Alabamian.

As we work to build a state where everyone can thrive, our movement must include dedicated, caring folks like you. That’s why we want to invite you to a live Zoom webinar this Friday at noon, where Arise’s Jim Carnes will talk about our findings and recommendations and answer your questions about the path forward for Alabama.

Arise will co-host the event with our friends at Adelante Alabama Worker Center, which is releasing a companion report today. Adelante’s report, Working on the Edge: A Survey of Low-Wage Workers in the Greater Birmingham Area Amid a Global Pandemic, surveys more than 200 low-wage workers in the Birmingham area about their working conditions and everyday lives. Arise and Adelante staff members will discuss both reports during the webinar.

Spanish-language interpretation will be available. (You must register for and join the webinar to access interpretation. | Tienes que registrarte y entrar al webinar para acceder interpretación.)

Don’t miss out! Register now for our free Zoom webinar this Friday at noon.
