Dear John,
Last week, the deceptively titled “Equality Act” was re-introduced in Congress.
On the campaign trail, President Biden promised to urge Congress to pass this legislation within his first 100 days in office. And if it does pass, he will sign the “Equality Act” into law.
But the “Equality Act” could have grave consequences for people of faith like you, John.
By definition, good laws respect our constitutional freedoms; they promote justice and fairness; they benefit society as a whole; and they support the common good—not just the interests of particular groups.
Bad laws create victims. They create chaos.
The “Equality Act” would be a bad law, John. And we must stand against it—together.
If the “Equality Act” becomes law, people of faith all across America will desperately need help to defend their religious freedom and free speech. And they will rely on the generosity of people like you, ADF Allied Attorneys, and our Grants and Funding program to protect their God-given liberties.
When you support the ADF Grants and Funding program, you come alongside more than 3,700 ADF Allied Attorneys who can litigate important cases to victory. This program provides the funding and strategic support necessary for these attorneys to go toe-to-toe with those trying to undermine your freedoms.
And now, with the Biden administration trying to pass the “Equality Act,” restrict your religious liberty, silence free speech, and violate the sanctity of human life, we expect grant requests to increase.
That’s why your help is needed. We must expand the Grants and Funding program to meet the growing threats to your most cherished freedoms.

The “Equality Act” would make government overreach the law of the land
The “Equality Act” is a deliberate attempt to force people of faith—good and honorable people who serve everyone—to promote messages and celebrate events that conflict with their sincere beliefs.
By design, there will be no religious exemptions for people of faith under the “Equality Act.” The legislation explicitly forbids it.
The “Equality Act” would also threaten the equal treatment of women and upend the foundational understanding of male and female in our law and culture.
Similar laws at the state and local levels have created these situations again and again. Like the “Equality Act,” these laws add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” as protected classes to existing nondiscrimination laws. That’s how we get victims like Jack Phillips, Barronelle Stutzman, and female athlete Selina Soule.
It’s no secret that millions of Americans disagree on matters such as marriage and human sexuality. But disagreement is NOT discrimination.
The “Equality Act” punishes the expression of fundamental beliefs held by major faith groups for thousands of years and, instead, demands that all Americans conform to a new secular orthodoxy.
America can—and MUST—do better.
That’s why, when you give today, you’ll make one of the best investments you can to defend religious freedom. Your gift can have up to four times the impact thanks to the donated time and services of dedicated Allied Attorneys. |

The grants you help provide protect people of faith
ADF will stand against the “Equality Act” and similar attempts to violate your constitutional freedoms—in Congress, state legislatures, and courtrooms across this country. And we are prepared to provide a winning defense of your most cherished liberties—all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
But with the increasing threats to religious freedom, we must be able to rely on the Grants and Funding program and call in reinforcements when we need it.
And this work is only possible with God’s blessing (John 15:5) and your faithful support.
We never want to be in the position where we must turn down a grant request for a case because we don’t have the funds. Or see religious freedom suffer due to the high cost of litigation. Especially now that we expect grant requests to increase under the Biden administration over the next four years.
But God willing, your tax-deductible gift today will help empower and prepare ADF Allied Attorneys to defend your God-given liberties in critical cases ahead.
Remember, every $1 you give can have up to four times the impact. Your gift of $50 can have the impact of $200. Your gift of $100 can have the impact of $400!
So please give very best gift you can today. With God’s blessing (John 15:5), and your faithful prayers and support, we can stand for freedom—and WIN. |
