I'll cut to the chase, John.
I fully support raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. If you're with me, I am asking you to add your name here.
Between rent, utilities, food, and transportation -- there is no place in this country where a full-time worker making $7.25 an hour can afford the basics -- let alone get ahead.
It's been over a decade since the federal minimum wage has increased, and anyone making that wage over the last ten years will tell you directly that it's simply not enough to get by.
We’ve seen this pandemic lay bare the vast inequities in our economic system. As literally tens of millions of Americans lost their jobs -- and the total share of income for working families sharply declined -- we also saw record profits at the highest levels. Multi-billionaires made trillions more last year, John -- these are just the facts.
We must make sure that any American who works a full-time job in this country isn't forced to live in poverty.
We need to level the playing field. A strong, national minimum wage can boost the economy, increase consumer spending, and support more businesses who are struggling to get by.
I'll do everything I can to make sure Congress finds a way to get this done. If you agree that we need to raise the minimum wage, sign here >>
All my best,
Mike
