Friend,

Last week I wrote to you about the great news that the Biden administration has extended protections under the Fair Housing Act to LGBTQ people.

Now, my colleagues and I in the House are preparing to take another huge step for LGBTQ rights: passing the Equality Act, which will codify that sexual orientation and gender identity must always be covered under federal civil rights laws.

A vote is likely this week, and I need your help to showcase the bill's widespread public support, to ensure that we pass it through the House and send it to the Senate with strong momentum.

Can you add your name in support of the Equality Act? We're aiming to reach 10,000 signatures by tomorrow.

As much progress as we've made in the last decade for LGBTQ equality, we still have a long way to go. Right now, Americans in a majority of states can still be fired from their jobs or denied credit just because of who they are and who they love. I will not rest until this kind of discrimination is outlawed.

The Biden administration has acted swiftly and decisively to advance LGBTQ equality and undo the Trump administration's harmful actions. But we cannot just let fundamental civil rights rest on who wins the White House every four years -- we need to enshrine these protections under the law.

That's why the Equality Act is so important, and why I hope you'll stand with me in advocating for it.
