Joe Biden must act now to fix the USPS.

Dear Friend,

Today, Congress is grilling Trump Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, demanding answers about how he has crippled the U.S. Postal Service, leading to record-slow mail service.1

When asked today how much longer he plans to stay in the job, DeJoy said, “Long time. Get used to it.”2

We’ll never get used to it. President Joe Biden must act to remove Louis DeJoy and replace him with someone who will fix the damage.

Demand Progress members and our allies delivered more than 300,000 signatures demanding that DeJoy be fired and to reform the Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service to fix the mail once and for all. Today’s hearing makes it clear DeJoy won’t go easily. Will you donate to help ramp up the pressure?

Yes, I’ll donate to Demand Progress and help save the U.S. Postal Service.

Before DeJoy, the standard for the post office was on-time mail delivery 96% of the time. Now, even though the busy Christmas season has passed, many people are seeing one out of four pieces of mail delayed or lost completely.3

DeJoy helped drive those delays by cutting overtime, shutting down mail sorting machines, and removing public mailboxes. But he has argued that the only way to “fix” the post office is to raise rates, which is just not true, and would hurt working Americans during a pandemic.4

In reality, DeJoy could profit from the downfall of the U.S. Postal Service, as he’s heavily invested in private delivery service companies.5

There’s no way that DeJoy should still have a job in government. In order to remove him, Biden must fill four vacant seats on the Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service, which can then fire him.6

More than 90 House Democrats have already called on Biden to immediately fill the seats, but he still hasn’t acted.7

DeJoy is just one of the unqualified, corporate-crony Trump appointees who continue to wreak havoc on the Social Security Administration, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the Internal Revenue Service, which can cause major damage to Biden’s agenda. The Supreme Court has said that Biden has the right to fire many of Trump’s appointees, and Biden has to step up and clean house.

Will you donate to Demand Progress and help rid the post office of Louis DeJoy?

Thanks for standing with us.

Robert Cruickshank,
