I am proud to have just introduced a groundbreaking resolution calling for a federal job guarantee in our country. It is beyond time for there to be a legal right to a good job for every American.
A job that provides a living wage, strong benefits, union protections and safe working conditions is a matter of economic, racial, and social justice. We need policies that match the scale of the crises we’re facing — a federal job guarantee is one of those policies.
This is a historic resolution — its potential impact and scope is on the same scale as the Green New Deal and the People’s Justice Guarantee. A federal job guarantee would completely transform our economy and materially help working-class people across the country, while addressing systemic inequities rooted in racism and sexism.
A federal job guarantee would address the current jobs crisis while laying the foundation for an equitable economic recovery.
