But despite all the evidence presented to them, a majority of GOP Senators voted to acquit Donald Trump and let him walk away free of any consequence for his role leading up to the fatal attack. The impeachment trial should never have come down to partisan lines — with blood on the former President’s hands, this was about right and wrong. 43 GOP Senators were too spineless to stand up for our democracy and pursue justice for those who died and their own colleagues who were terrorized.
