Folks —

Last week, the House of Representatives reintroduced the Equality Act. After years of collecting dust on Mitch McConnell’s desk, it may finally become law — a critical milestone in our fight for equal rights.

No LGBTQ American should face discrimination simply because of who they are or who they love. But due to an inadequate patchwork of laws, that’s the reality in a majority of states across our country.

Equality and freedom are central to America's promise. As long as people continue to be discriminated against based on their sexual orientation or gender identity, we're not living up to that promise — which is why I’m working my tail off to make sure the Equality Act makes it through Congress and becomes law.

We still have a heck of a fight ahead of us to get this bill on President Biden’s desk. That’s why I’m reaching out to ask you to stand with me in this fight for equality.

Will you add your name to my petition demanding Congress pass the Equality Act and take a stand in our fight for a better future? Let’s make sure all LGBTQ Americans finally have the freedom of full equality and protection under federal law.

When I became the first openly gay Senator in our nation's history, I understood that this extraordinary opportunity needed to be used to make a difference in people's lives. That's why I ran in the first place — not to make history, but to make a difference.

Folks like you supported me because you wanted to make a difference, too. I’m so grateful for that. It’s going to take all of us together to win this fight for equality and justice for all.

Thanks for being a part of this.

— Tammy
