Friend --

There's a through line between the money candidates receive from corporations and what they say and do in Congress.

Take Texas: During last week's historic winter storm, Texas Republicans like Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, as well as Congressman Dan Crenshaw, blamed "frozen wind turbines" for the rolling blackouts, despite renewables outperforming fossil fuels in Texas to keep the lights on.

Why is that? Just those three lawmakers have received campaign donations from more than 30 companies in the oil and gas industry -- each giving tens of thousands to the lawmakers over the past year. Congressman Crenshaw received more than $450,000 last year from the oil and gas industry, and those donations made oil and gas his largest industry donor.

This is how it always goes: Industries buy their lawmakers' influence, and Americans get left behind. That's why Dean doesn't take a dime from industry PACs, lobbyists, or his fellow members of Congress -- because we see what happens when lawmakers are influenced by corporations, not the families they represent.

Three Texas Republican federal lawmakers raked in more than $1.1 million from the oil and gas industry in the 2020 election cycle. Dean took $0 from any industry -- and that should be the same story for every lawmaker.

If you agree, add your name to call for campaign finance reform with Dean to end the influence of corporate and dark money in Congress right now.
