The United States reached a tragic milestone this week: more than 500,000 Americans have died from COVID-19. It should have never gotten to this point.

Since President Biden was sworn in, he and Democrats in Congress have been working together to get this public health and economic crisis under control, and to provide desperately needed relief through Biden’s American Rescue Plan.

The American Rescue Plan is a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief proposal that would extend emergency unemployment benefits, provide $1,400 stimulus checks, give assistance to state and local governments, raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and a whole lot more.

Here in the House, we’re preparing to pass this major relief package as soon as this week, but Republicans have been opposing it from the start and could stall it in the Senate.

We can’t let the GOP stand in the way of crushing this virus and providing Americans with the relief they deserve.
